It’s time to leave Antioquia behind and embark on a new adventure. After thanking everyone who helped me during my trip to Antioquia, I now set my sights on my next destination: Armenia.

Upon arrival at the airport, I am picked up by my good friend Milena. After a smooth flight. We quickly arrange a taxi and drive towards the city, which is about 40 minutes from the airport. Luckily, I had booked a hotel in the city center in advance via Booking.com, so the taxi takes me there directly. After dropping my luggage in the hotel room, I immediately head into the city with Milena. While she shows me around, we find a nice place to have a drink and toast my arrival.

During our conversation, I ask her if she would like to go with me to a beautiful place called Salento. Although it would be a fantastic adventure for me, Milena has been there dozens of times. Unfortunately, her work schedule doesn’t allow it, but she suggests that her daughter, Fabiana, accompany me. I enthusiastically agree and the next morning I am picked up early. Together we take a taxi from my hotel to the bus station and get on the bus to the picturesque village of Salento.

Once we arrive at a suburb of the village, we still have to walk a bit to the central square. There, the iconic jeeps are already waiting. We quickly buy tickets and wait until there are enough people to leave. The time has come and we start a ride that is typical for Colombia: on the back of the jeep there are even two people who hitch a ride. Here, anything is possible!

After a long but beautiful ride, we finally arrive at our destination. It is clearly a tourist spot, something you don’t always see on the internet, but understandable given the beauty of the surroundings. It soon becomes clear that we will be walking a lot today. As we pass some beautiful spots, I see a stable in the distance where horses are kept that you can rent for a specific route. Although I have little experience with horse riding, it seems like the best way to discover more of this breathtaking landscape.

After about 30 minutes of hesitation and with some encouragement from Fabiana, I decide to continue the ride on horseback. It takes some getting used to, but I quickly get the hang of it and really start to enjoy the ride. The only downside is that the bridle path is quite challenging and I was worried that the horses would struggle. Despite my concerns, it was a great experience and a fantastic day. I am very grateful to Fabiana for her company and encouragement.
